A Welcome note from our Head Coach, Jakub Samsa

Welcome to a brand new year at Gymac! As Head Coach, I’m excited to kick off 2025 with renewed energy and a deep sense of pride in how far we’ve come. On behalf of the entire team, I wish all our families and supporters a year filled with health, happiness, and success. We’re looking forward to taking on new challenges, continuing to grow together, and creating unforgettable gymnastics experiences. This year promises to be full of exciting developments—new projects, special events, and shared moments that will strengthen our Gymac community. Before we look ahead, it’s important to acknowledge everything we achieved in 2024. It was a year of growth, dedication, and great progress, and I truly believe 2025 will take us even further. Let’s make it an inspiring year—together.

Gym Upgrades: A Better Space to Welcome You

Over the past few months, we’ve made several exciting changes to our gym in order to provide our athletes with a more comfortable, functional, and inspiring training environment. One of the biggest updates has been the removal of a partition wall, which allowed us to significantly expand the main hall. This new, open layout offers a more spacious and versatile space for our gymnasts.

New functional hanging area

We’ve also added a brand-new functional hanging area, along with dedicated zones for rings, high bars, and weight training—broadening the possibilities for strength and skill development. Our trampolines and beams have been reorganized to improve flow and create better structure during training sessions. We have also moved our aerial skills & hoops corner This area is tailored to optimize safety and performance.

January- A Dynamic Start with Judges’ Training in Artistic Gymnastics

The month of January kicked off on a high note with an intensive judges’ training program that brought together our dedicated coaches and several passionate gymnast moms. Organised by the African Gymnastics Union (UAG), this training covered both Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and marked a significant step forward for the development of the sport in Mauritius. The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics course was led by Dr. Nehad Zayed, while the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics sessions were conducted by FIG Expert Dr. Mohamed Ali, a member of the FIG MAG Technical Committee. The training ran across two sessions—first from December 6 to 8, then again from January 20 to 22—delivered in a focused and enthusiastic learning environment.

A memorable presidential visit

On January 19, Gymac had the great honour of hosting a distinguished visit from Dr. Ehab Amin Esawy, President of the African Gymnastics Union (UAG), accompanied by Mrs. Nehad Zayed and Mr. Ah Ling, President of the Mauritius Gymnastics Federation. This special occasion offered our gymnasts the exciting opportunity to showcase their skills through a series of demonstrations spanning various technical and artistic levels. The atmosphere was filled with pride, energy, and enthusiasm as our athletes performed in front of esteemed guests.

It was also a moment to shine a spotlight on the efforts of other local clubs, who joined the event with incredible spirit and passion. The success of the day was made possible thanks to the unwavering dedication of our staff and the continued support of our amazing Gymac parents.

This event marks a significant milestone in our shared mission to elevate Mauritian gymnastics on both the African and international stages

As we all know, February is the month of love—and at Gymac, we embraced the spirit wholeheartedly by turning Valentine’s Day into a full week of celebration. From February 12 to 17, our gym was filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful connections as we honoured the many forms of love that bring our community together.

Throughout the week, members were invited to bring a partner, friend, or loved one to join them in fun and engaging sessions.

Women's Day: An evening in pink

Women make this world a better place. Women can be anything—strong, graceful, bold, nurturing—and at Gymac, we believe in celebrating every aspect of their power and potential.

To honour Women’s Day, we hosted a special evening where members were invited to bring along a woman who inspires them to share a joyful and active moment together. The gym was filled with positive energy, connection, and appreciation for the incredible women in our lives.

We ended the evening with a convivial aperitif, celebrating the strength, elegance, and resilience of the women who shape our community.
