Newsletter First Quarter 2025

Newsletter First quarter 2025 A Welcome note from our Head Coach, Jakub Samsa Welcome to a brand new year at Gymac! As Head Coach, I’m excited to kick off 2025 with renewed energy and a deep sense of pride in how far we’ve come. On behalf of the entire team, I wish all our families and supporters a year filled with health, happiness, and success. We’re looking forward to taking on new challenges, continuing to grow together, and creating unforgettable gymnastics experiences. This year promises to be full of exciting developments—new projects, special events, and shared moments that will strengthen our Gymac community. Before we look ahead, it’s important to acknowledge everything we achieved in 2024. It was a year of growth, dedication, and great progress, and I truly believe 2025 will take us even further. Let’s make it an inspiring year—together. — Jakub Samsa, Head Coach Gym Upgrades: A Better Space to Welcome You Over the past few months, we’ve made several exciting changes to our gym in order to provide our athletes with a more comfortable, functional, and inspiring training environment. One of the biggest updates has been the removal of a partition wall, which allowed us to significantly expand the main hall. This new, open layout offers a more spacious and versatile space for our gymnasts. New functional hanging area We’ve also added a brand-new functional hanging area, along with dedicated zones for rings, high bars, and weight training—broadening the possibilities for strength and skill development. Our trampolines and beams have been reorganized to improve flow and create better structure during training sessions. We have also moved our aerial skills & hoops corner This area is tailored to optimize safety and performance. These improvements are all part of our ongoing commitment to meet the needs of both beginner and advanced gymnasts, and to create a training environment that motivates, supports, and inspires. January- A Dynamic Start with Judges’ Training in Artistic Gymnastics The month of January kicked off on a high note with an intensive judges’ training program that brought together our dedicated coaches and several passionate gymnast moms. Organised by the African Gymnastics Union (UAG), this training covered both Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and marked a significant step forward for the development of the sport in Mauritius. The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics course was led by Dr. Nehad Zayed, while the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics sessions were conducted by FIG Expert Dr. Mohamed Ali, a member of the FIG MAG Technical Committee. The training ran across two sessions—first from December 6 to 8, then again from January 20 to 22—delivered in a focused and enthusiastic learning environment. A memorable presidential visit On January 19, Gymac had the great honour of hosting a distinguished visit from Dr. Ehab Amin Esawy, President of the African Gymnastics Union (UAG), accompanied by Mrs. Nehad Zayed and Mr. Ah Ling, President of the Mauritius Gymnastics Federation. This special occasion offered our gymnasts the exciting opportunity to showcase their skills through a series of demonstrations spanning various technical and artistic levels. The atmosphere was filled with pride, energy, and enthusiasm as our athletes performed in front of esteemed guests. It was also a moment to shine a spotlight on the efforts of other local clubs, who joined the event with incredible spirit and passion. The success of the day was made possible thanks to the unwavering dedication of our staff and the continued support of our amazing Gymac parents. This year was big to us, as all the gymnasts experienced already full year preparation in fully equipped gym Gymac. We are still only one centre in Mauritius to offer such a condition but even being the only ones we still trying to improve better training conditions for our gymnasts. There is always something to improve: This year it was investment into new floor area, new springboards, two new beams and additional training bar. Addition of new parking Area for Gymac customers. Moving of the toilet into the inside area of Gymac and Development of two new studios in the upstairs area which will be fully functional as from start of January 2024 and will be the place to host our new part of the program @Gymac Our Gymac family increased. Last year was big year for our Gymac family as from only coaches Jakub and Gigi we expanded into amazing team which includes Baba, Amrit, Gars, Yash, Mame, Aurelie, Teddy and Guiome. We won’t stop expanding also in the next year. New website Year 2023 was a huge in term of our it development as we managed to launch finally our Gymac website and we started developing portal for our parents and gymnasts to be able to see attendance of their children, to be able to see their development and be better informed about all what is happening at Gymac. Development of evaluations system 2023 was a great success for our internal Gymac evaluation system which we launched first time in April and already thanks to this system we have been able to hand out first Gymac certificates and select new development squad. For the next year the first evaluation is already prepared for the month of February. For our high performance, competitive squad 2023 was a year in the sign of hard work as we managed to level up onto level 2 FIG competition system and competed on two competitions. Thanks to their hard work the members have been selected into the selection for the national youth team of Mauritius. In the next year, we aim even higher. New Slots We managed to offer more places for you within our artistic gymnastics program, parents and tots , aerial acrobatics, judo and newly also Kung-Fu program. It was a lot of happening in 2024 but we are planning even more in next year so stay tuned. What is about to come in 2024? This year we will again don’t stop! Firstly, we are planning to start a year with a new event Gymac Open day, this event will be held on Sunday 14th January 10:00-15:00 and will showcase all the activities, from existing to newly introduced by Gymac in 2024 so definitely save the date as on the program is lots of challenges and activities for the kids and parents, good food, drinks and music. 2024 NEW DEVELOPMENT New Coachs Gymac Family will expand again as from January 2024 and our team will join: Eric Leader of pilates program, sport and relaxation massage and manager of gymac social cultural activities Cathy Reinforcement into our general gymnastics program, lead coach of parkour, tricking and fitness classes at Gymac . To be able to make it, we would desperately need a spring floor for our competitive gymnasts to development into international standard but the finances are the obstacle. So, if ever you could help or know somebody who is that capacity please let us know. Finances is unfortunately a big word which cannot be left behind, due to an increasing cost prices and higher maintenance we need to increase prices in order to be able to function and be able to deliver classes in high standard. The new priceless will be effective as from February 2024. We hope to still have your support. Thank you for being in it with us. Your Gymac team
